Tropikera is an independent project born between Italy and Sri Lanka, looking toward India’s textile cultures.
01 · 2023
The first gesture
In 2023 we composed thirty one-of-one shirts, choosing different pairings for body, collar, cuffs and details. The number sewn into each garment preserves its identity.
02 · Material
Textile before slogan
Our working archive includes Kala cottons, Ajrakh prints and other handcrafted textiles. Yet every material has its own story, so we never extend one textile’s characteristics to a whole collection without evidence.
03 · India 2027
The next journey
Between January and February 2027 we will return to India to develop the second production. We will share processes, people and places only with clear permission and verifiable information.
